Welcome
Find out here about our work and purpose.
We are based in Scotland but operate more widely. We
provide consultancy, facilitation, training and evaluation services.
Well known for our work in Person Centred Planning, organisational
development and Supported Living our aim is to
support more inclusive societies and communities.
We work with organisations, groups, individuals,
families and sometimes with the whole
local community including the social care and health system.
We recognise that exclusion
has a huge impact on our
society, that many groups of people are affected, including those
people who have
labels of a learning disability, mental health issues or physical
disability.
These labels tell us
nothing about who the
person is.
In fact, marginalising people because of labels means
that our
society denies itself the gifts, capacities and contributions that
those of us who have been labelled bring.
As a result, the range of work we do is diverse.
Bringing together people who use services,
workers and families in forums that aim for 'right relationships',
and explore the use of Process Work, using large group concepts like
“Deep Democracy”. We also design training for specific groups;
including, managers
and staff
in organisations; people who use services and their families; mentoring
for senior managers and advanced facilitation training
courses.
We also design new services
and structures that keep the person and/ or their family at the centre
and in-control. We believe that more personalised services are not only
possible but that there is already a lot of knowledge about how to make
them happen.
Diversity Matters is a member of Altrum, a federation of small
organisations and individuals committed to fostering inclusive
communities and citizenship for all.
