Welcome
Find out here about the work of Diversity Matters.
We explore small scale ways to utilize the capacities of individuals, families, and organisations to support Inclusion. Diversity Matters is based in Scotland but operates more widely, offering consultancy, facilitation, training and evaluation services to support a more inclusive society within the UK.
We work with and facilitate individuals, families, groups and organisations in areas such as organisational change, person-centred planning and
person-centred approaches, facilitation techniques and training, and Process Work. We are particularly interested in developing new service designs that keep the person and/ or their family more at the centre and in-control.
We recognise the marginalisation, in our society, of many groups of people, including those people who have labels of a learning disability, mental health issues or physical disability. These are only labels and tell us nothing about who the person is. Marginalising people because of labels means that our society denies itself the gifts, capacities and contributions that those of us who have been labelled bring and we are interested in using our skills and experience to help make a difference.
We believe that more personalised services are not only possible but that there is already a lot of knowledge about how to make them happen.
The range of work we do is diverse and also includes, training for specific groups; for example: managers and staff in organisations; people who use services and their families; mentoring for senior managers and advanced facilitation courses. Recently we have focussed on bringing together people who use services, workers and families in forums that aim for 'right relationships', and explore the use of Process Work, using large group concepts like “Deep Democracy”.
Diversity Matters is also a member of Altrum, a federation of small organisations and individuals committed to fostering inclusive communities and citizenship for all.
