Training
In recent years, we have designed and
delivered a variety of individually tailored training courses,
collaborating with over 50 organisations including Social Service
Departments, Health Trusts, small and large voluntary sector providers,
community groups, advocacy and pressure groups on a range of different
projects. Find out about some of our typical courses in the table below.
University Courses
In 2002 Pat and Andy helped design a new
Higher Education Certificate in the Person-Centred Approach. This
collaboration with the ALTRUM network and Queen Margaret University
College Edinburgh received European Funding in 2003 and presently has
nearly 200 students enrolled. This is now an award winning
course developed by Diversity Matters in partnership with
Terry Daly and Kate Munro. A winner of a National Training Award for
changing workplace practice and an ESF award for best long-life
learning project it has also been awarded SSSC accreditation.
Accredited Trainers
We are accredited Essential Lifestyle Planning facilitators and
trainers. We admire Michael Smull's continuing impact on person-centred
approaches (www.elpnet.net) and
include his approaches in much of our work.
We also continue to maintain our learning
about person centred planning by keeping up to date with the work of
Jack Pearpoint, Marsha Forrest (www.inclusion.com)
and John O'Brien (http://soeweb.syr.edu/thechp/rsapub.htm)
who are the creators of the MAP and PATH processes.
We keep exploring and developing our facilitation skills
in person-centred planning through direct work with people who use
services and their families. All of our work in facilitation and
training is enhanced by our process work
studies.
Here are some example
training courses: scroll down this table for more information
